President
Kiyomi Takemoto (she/her)
Kiyomi Takemoto is the FY23 SWE Los Angeles President, previously serving as the FY22 Vice President of Outreach, FY21 Collegiate Outreach Chair, and on the Collegiate Outreach and PDC committees. She has been an active member of SWE for over 7 years since college where she served in multiple leadership roles. She is most proud of starting the SWE-LA collegiate networking lunch & learn series, providing the framework for college students to learn and network with professionals during the pandemic. Kiyomi is thankful for all the friendships and personal development she has gained through SWE and looks forward to being able to pay it forward through mentoring and boosting SWE-LA engagement this upcoming year as it becomes more safe to meet in person.

Kiyomi earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from UCI, and is currently pursuing her M.S. in Systems Architecture Engineering from USC while working as a Mission Systems Engineer at The Boeing Company. Fun Facts: She spoke at WE21 National Conference & in her free time she enjoys finding new places to eat around LA and staying involved in the Japanese American Community.
Vice President of Professional Development
Alexis Ziegler
Alexis Ziegler is the FY23 SWE Los Angeles Vice President of Professional Development. She became involved with SWE-LA upon moving back to the area after college in 2019 and has been an active member since. Alexis previously served on the PDC planning committee in FY22. Last year, Alexis was the K-12 Outreach Chair; all the while, being the Professional Development Conference Planning Committee Chair. In these roles she helped provide invaluable resources to those who attended the conference and fully funded 10 scholarships to members of SWE-LA. She also started the SWENext Collegiate mentoring program that linked High School SWENext sections to Collegiate groups in order to bridge the gap and to begin developing network/mentoring skills. She is passionate about sharing and creating STEM opportunities for engineers of all ages and can’t wait to help create and strengthen the connections between all of her SWEsters!

Alexis has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Vermont and is currently pursuing her M.S. in Manufacturing and Design from UCLA while working for Northrop Grumman as a Structural Design Engineer in Redondo Beach, CA. Fun fact: Alexis is a former member of U.S Figure Skating Team USA Synchronized Ice Skating and in her free time still coaches ice skating.
Vice President of Outreach
Marisol Prado
Marisol Prado is FY23 SWE Los Angeles Vice President of Outreach. She previously served as the FY19 and FY20 SWE-LA VP of Outreach. Marisol has been an active member for over 10 years where she played a key role in establishing SWE-UCM as a national section and establishing a yearly young women STEM conference for Merced County middle and high school girls during her undergrad career. She continues to have a strong passion in educating and encouraging young students about STEM, as well as supporting junior SWE members in learning about what SWE has to offer as a professional engineer.

Marisol earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UCM. She currently works as a Senior Equipment Engineer at Abbott Vascular in the Divisional Engineering Team. When not at work or supporting SWE Marisol enjoys traveling, hiking and camping with family and friends. She also enjoys taking photos of all her adventures.
Secretary
Jasmine Naseri
Jasmine Naseri is the FY23 SWE Los Angeles Secretary. She previously served as FY22 Secretary, FY19-21 President and FY17-18 Vice President. She has been an active member of SWE for over ten years since college where she held several leadership positions. Jasmine looks forward to another productive and fun year of K-12 STEM outreach, professional development events, and collegiate outreach through SWE-LA's scholarship program.
Jasmine has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California '16 and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles '18. She currently works for Northrop Grumman as a Communications Systems Engineer in Redondo Beach. Fun fact: Jasmine loves to travel, learn history, and experience new cultures and has been fortunate enough to visit 37 countries so far! |
Treasurer
Susan Young
Susan Young is the FY23 SWE Los Angeles Treasurer. She joined the LA section in 2013 holding various positions including Section representative and President. She has been a member of SWE since 2002, joining as a collegiate.
Susan has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from University of California Santa Barbara and an MBA from University of Washington. She is currently the Operations Director at a food importing company and previously worked as a Structural Analysis Engineer at Boeing. |
Professional Development Conference Chair
Mallory Slavis
Mallory Slavis is the FY23 SWE Los Angeles Professional Development Conference Chair. She held several positions in her collegiate section and is excited to dive into her first position with SWE-LA, after being involved in last year’s committee. Mallory graduated from Purdue University in 2019 with an B.S. in Industrial Engineering, and she is currently pursuing an MBA from her alma mater online. Outside of working as a strategy & operations manager at Veo, Mallory loves to write, travel, and spend time with friends & family. She is especially looking forward to getting to know the South Bay area one bike path at a time!

K-12 STEM Outreach Chair
Anise Grant
Anise Grant is the FY23 SWE Los Angeles K-12 Outreach Chair. She looks forward to finding new and creative ways to inspire young minds in STEM and connecting SWE professional members to opportunities to give back. Anise holds a B.S. in Polymer Science and Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. She currently works for the Northrop Grumman Corporation as a system engineer supporting programs and corporate initiatives. In her free time, she enjoys reading and hikes.

Collegiate Outreach Chair
Makena White
Makena White is the FY23 SWE Los Angeles Collegiate Outreach Chair. She served in this position from 2017-2020 and is excited to return to the role. She has been involved in SWE since her undergrad years and has remained active during her professional career. She earned her B.S. and M.S. in Materials Science & Engineering from UCLA and is working on her Ph.D. in the same major at UCLA in battery materials. She also works in a limited capacity as a Microelectronics Materials & Process Engineer at Northrop Grumman. In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball and tennis as well as knitting while watching baking shows!

Graduate/Academia Co-Chairs
Rachel Rosenzweig & Ivy Kwok
Rachel Rosenzweig is the FY23 SWE Los Angeles Graduate/Academia Co-Chair and is continuing her dedication to SWE since 2011! She obtained her B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) at the University of Washington where she served as VP of SWE-UW. She then obtained her Ph.D. in MSE at UC Irvine where she served as VP of SWE Orange County after receiving the SWE-OC Graduate Student Scholarship. She is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Caltech in the Division of Biology & Biological Engineering. She has served as the SWE-LA FY22 Collegiate Outreach Chair & is now on a mission to help grow SWE-LA’s academic community, graduate relations, & supportive resources!

Ivy Kwok is the FY23 SWE Los Angeles Graduate/Academia Co-Chair – she is excited to continue in the role that she helped create last year and empower those in the SWE and Greater Los Angeles communities to learn more about, pursue, and feel supported in the world of research and academia! Ivy graduated with a B.S. in Molecular, Cell, & Developmental Biology and a minor in Environmental Engineering from UCLA (2020) and is currently still at her alma mater as a third-year PhD student in Civil & Environmental Engineering. Fun facts: she has a passion for mentorship, a spirit for advocacy, and a love for sustainability and all things interdisciplinary. In her free time, she loves spending time with loved ones and pogo-sticking!

Member Engagement Co-Chairs
Jessica Block & Emily Silva
Jessica Block is the FY23 SWE Los Angeles Member Engagement Co-Chair. Jessica has been involved in Outreach programs since 2011 including serving as the Graduate Student Outreach Chair for Georgia Tech SWE. She has given presentations at WE Local and SWE National conferences on the topics of Outreach and Financing Graduate Education. Jessica is looking forward to expanding the fun and unique ways SWE-LA members engage with each other. Jessica has a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and is currently pursuing a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. She currently works as a Biomedical Engineer at Boston Scientific. She enjoys long backpack trips through the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
Emily Silva is the FY23 SWE Los Angeles Member Engagement Co-Chair. She would like to organize events in FY23 including an event to learn about food that may or may not be novel for members. She serves concurrently as a member of the SWE finance committee. Emily served as the collegiate section president, and before that as the section's corporate liaison. Emily earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Los Angeles, in 2021. Currently, she is seeking to begin her career in an entry-level role to contribute to human exploration of space while impacting the sustainability of life on Earth. Besides volunteering, Emily has participated in the SWE mentor network and aspires to serve as a mentor early in her career. Whenever feasible, Emily practices swimming. |
Marketing Chair
Katelyn Ragan
Katelyn Ragan is the FY23 SWE Los Angeles Marketing Chair. This is her first year both as part of SWE-LA and as the Marketing Chair. She was previously involved as Secretary and Publicity Chair in her college section. She is excited to engage with all the members and hopefully spread awareness to engineers all over the LA area about SWE! Katelyn graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech in May of 2022. She now works at The Boeing Company as an Astrodynamicist. In her free time, Katelyn loves reading fantasy books, running on the beach, finding new hikes, playing with her dog, hanging out with friends, and trying any and all water sports.
