2019 Professional Development Conference

SWE Los Angeles Professional Development Conference 2019 - "Leading with Impact"
The Society of Women Engineers - Los Angeles Chapter will be hosting our annual Professional Development Conference (PDC) on March 22nd, 2019. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks will be provided as part of your registration fees. All proceeds from this event will go to the SWE - Los Angeles Scholarship Program.
We are extremely pleased to have Mary Isaac as our outstanding keynote speaker:
Mary Isaac retired from General Electric in 2007 after 30 years in various technical and commercial roles in GE’s energy business, from machinist to field engineer to executive, serving domestic and international electric utility and industrial customers such as Excel, Constellation Energy, Entergy, Exxon-Mobil, Proctor & Gamble, Reliance, Sumitomo, and others.
Dr. Isaac's consultancy (HEDGE Co, 2006) focuses on research and working with formal and informal educators, mentors, and role models to grow the numbers of females pursuing engineering and technology careers. She is also a National Science Foundation (NSF) panelist for various types of engineering- and equity-related solicitations and reviews papers annually for the American Society for Engineering Educators’ (ASEE) annual conference proceedings and their recently created Collaborative Network for Engineering and Computing Diversity (CoNECD) session.
She has been a member-at-large (MAL) of the Society of Women Engineers since 1986, has held various society-level and MAL leadership roles over the years, is a conferred Fellow (2011) and an Advocating Women in Engineering awardee (2018). She has also been on the leadership team for the Society’s ‘Invent it. Build it.’ program since it began in 2010.
She earned her B.S. in mechanical engineering from Union College (1982), an M.A.T. in technology education from North Carolina A&T State University (2011), and a Ph.D. in occupational and technical studies from Old Dominion University (2015). She is also an active member of the American Evaluation Association (AEA) and the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA).
In her spare time, she advocates for robotics (FIRST referee and inspector) and global equity in technology through the San Diego Diplomacy Council, when she isn’t singing with her jam band or chorus, or rescuing dogs.
